Linking paleoecology with paleolimnology: evaluating ecological shifts, human impacts and monsoon climate from sediment signals in East Asia

This special issue, entitled “Paleolimnology and Paleoecology in a Rapidly Changing Asia,” was initiated during the third China Workshop on Lake that held Kunming, China, December, 2019. Here, we summarize some of key findings from 10 papers are included this issue. The present sediment surveys lakes different parts East Asia, studies spanned variety timescales, through multi-proxy analyses modern samples, short cores Holocene records. Overall, issue provides an up-to-date research snapshot fields paleolimnology paleoecology rapidly changing regions with focus signals lake development, ecological shifts anthropogenic forcing context continuing climatic societal changes.
